Kintsugi

Connecting with gold. The photo is unique and hand-finished with gold leaf. Many people ignore details such as the incidence of light, a car track in the sand or an old wall. I try to show the beauty in the everyday. For this work I draw my inspiration from Kintsugi, a Japanese repair technique for broken pottery. This is done by means of a lacquer in which gold powder is mixed. In this way, the repaired cracks remain visible. In this way, the repaired ceramic becomes a symbol of fragility, strength and beauty. Kintsugi quickly acquired a deeper meaning; emphasizing the imperfect. Just like in life. Setbacks should not be hidden away, but try to process them and derive your strength from them. Repair your emotional scar with a golden edge.
