Lagoon | Isabelle Siem | 80cm x 60cm x 5.4cm
Inspired by the calm, shallow waters of a lagoon. Its smooth, rounded shapes and layered greens reflect the stillness and clarity of protected coastal waters.
Isabelle Siem , born in 1999, is a Dutch artist. She lives and works in Amsterdam, where she studies art and finds inspiration for her work. Her artistic repertoire extends beyond abstract paintings to encompass enchanting wooden sculptures. Her paintings are striking with their vibrant colors, layered brushstrokes, and interplay of light and shadow. At the same time, her wooden sculptures evoke a sense of organic beauty, meticulously crafted with an eye for detail.
Siem's work is neither subtle nor simple: it immediately grabs your attention, but is only truly appreciated when you take the time to absorb the entire painting. Those with an eye for detail will discover a second layer in each work. Not only the colors and shapes, but also the materials used convey a feeling or message—both individually and collectively. Consequently, none of her paintings is completely flat. The result is a dialogue between the artist and her canvas, a process in which she reflects her reflections on life.
