Elke Smit is a photographer and artist. Photography and image are Elke's tools to give shape to formlessness. Her style can be described as raw, pure and authentic with the female body and nature as a source of inspiration. There is a layering and soul in her artwork, with which she wants the viewer to turn inward to discover his/her own truth.

Elke builds a bridge between nature outside us and within ourselves with her work. The elements of nature are always visible. With her fascination for culture and indigenous wisdom, she travels the world to photograph her series. For example, she made the series waters in the Sataya reef in the Red Sea, where she let herself be guided by the water.

Elke's work is not conceptual or thought out, but made from a space of surrender. She creates the boundary conditions and then lets herself be guided in the moment by what presents itself. After which she only knows afterwards what she has made and what the work has to say.
