Collection: Annejole Jacobs – de Jongh

Jole (Annejole Jacobs – de Jongh, 1964) makes modern mixed-media portraits 'with a story'. As free work and on commission for individuals and companies. Using all kinds of digital images, photos and texts, she makes designs and in a mix of print and painting she then puts the portraits on canvas. The backgrounds of the paintings are built up from different layers of digital images, texts and scanned originals that Jole collects about the subject to be portrayed. The images she uses come from art, history, music, literature or contemporary times.

“In my work I am inspired by the environment around me, nature, what goes on in people's minds, by events in the news, in newspapers and on social media and by different cultures, countries and cities.”
