Silvina Rodriguez

Silvina Rodríguez was born on August 4, 1989, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Her artistic journey, which began in 2010, has been a continuous exploration and evolution of her creative expression. Silvina's path as an artist has been marked by an international trajectory, encompassing diverse experiences and residencies that have significantly shaped her artistic development.

Between 2012 and 2016, Silvina was based in New York City, an artistic epicenter that offered her the opportunity to immerse herself in the city's vibrant art scene. Her time in New York likely played a pivotal role in influencing her artistic sensibilities. However, in the latter part of 2016, she made the decision to return to her native Uruguay, driven by a desire to reconnect with her roots and explore new artistic directions.

In a transformative move, Silvina attended her first art residency in Budapest at the end of September of the same year. This experience marked a turning point in her career, as it provided her with the precious gift of uninterrupted time and space for her artistic practice. Freed from the constraints of parallel jobs, this residency allowed her to delve fully into her art, serving as a catalyst for her artistic journey.

From early 2017 through 2018, Silvina divided her time between Uruguay and Brazil, where she worked for film production companies. This unique experience likely had a profound impact on her artistic practice, introducing new elements and perspectives into her work. Concurrently, she actively sought opportunities to participate in artist residencies in Brazil, further enriching her artistic exploration. Her dedication to continuous artistic growth and exploration is evident in her enthusiastic engagement with these residencies.

In April 2018, Silvina embarked on her most recent residency in Germany, an experience that undoubtedly broadened her artistic horizons and exposed her to new influences and perspectives. Currently, she resides between Umbria, Italy, and Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she continues to live and work on her art. This dynamic journey across different countries and continents reflects Silvina's unwavering commitment to her artistic practice and her incessant pursuit of artistic development and inspiration.
