Merel Meijer

Merel Meijer (1998) paints in her studio in the Veluwe and Amsterdam.

Often in her signature colours blue & orange, Merel's paintings are built up from multiple layers of acrylic paint, until the canvas "feels finished" to her. In addition to acrylic paint, she also uses various materials to add more depth. This process can take weeks, and sometimes even months. These layers constantly create new patterns and colours, giving her art a lot of detail and depth; each painting is unique.

'My paintings symbolise the endless possibilities that arise from embracing change. For me, they serve as a reminder that life, just like art, becomes richer and deeper by seeing the beauty in change.'
