Lieuwe Kingma

About the artist

Lieuwe Kingma (Grijpskerk, 1957) was educated at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. There he learned to paint in the traditional way: by observation. Over the years, Kingma has built up an impressive oeuvre, in which he constantly pushes his boundaries. The same subjects keep reappearing: landscapes in the South of France, vast polders in Groningen, still lifes with vases, flowers or apples and nudes.

In the more than 35 years that Lieuwe has been professionally active as a painter, his work has received national and international recognition. An extensive description of his oeuvre and how collectors appreciate his work can be found in the book "Lieuwe Kingma, 25 Years of Art", 2010.
