Ingeborg Herckenrath

About the artist Ingeborg Herckenrath

Ingeborg Herckenrath (born 1970) is a contemporary artist with a graphic design background. Ingeborg uses bright paint colours with her own painting technique to create artistic artworks. Aesthetics and beauty are central to her work. In addition to brushes, she also uses other tools and materials to apply the paint. The richness of colours is not limited by the planes of the shapes. This creates a strong visual dynamic image. Ingeborg enjoys painting on large formats, for example up to 200 cm x 200 cm.

Ingeborg is successfully represented by galleries at home and abroad. Her paintings are owned by collectors in the USA, Australia, France, Norway, UK, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Artist Statement

"I have a great passion for colour, design, and artistic creations. From a young age, I felt the urge to express myself creatively. I love to work intuitively and experiment. First, I create a plan and composition, then I let the paint take its course. Each work therefore has a unique application of technique, but always in harmony with what it should express. In combination with my preparatory work, this provides both spontaneity and precision. In my large portraits, I omit recognisable lines, leaving only colour and form. This creates large abstract areas. Overall, I look for positive emotion and energy that resonates with me.

The large format of my paintings creates a strong expressive power in the spaces where they hang. Travel, people, nature, and other cultures inspire me; I also incorporate this into my abstract works. The interplay of people and nature gives me daily inspiration and drive to shape this in my studio. Ideas constantly bubble up in my mind, and I feel a constant need to develop them."Â
