Collectie: Samm Lewis
Samm Lewis is a multidisciplinary artist based in Zaandam, living near the sea.
Formerly a fashion lawyer in London, she transitioned into a nature-led practice after relocating to the Italian mountains, where she studied the multifunctional uses of plants across food, medicine, pigments, and sustainable materials.
Her work spans textiles, 3D forms, paper, poetry, performance, and is expanding into ceramics, metal, and wood. She explores how patterns engage a neurological process known as prediction, in which the brain searches memory to interpret unfamiliar visuals—inviting deeply personal and collective reflection.
Through techniques such as screen printing, digital design, and contemporary Fair Isle knitting, she creates abstract patterns that reference both natural systems and inner emotional landscapes. She is also the founder of a tea company, Her Belle Tease, that translates her botanical research into sensory experiences.
